Receptionist

Austin & Carnley is a well-established law firm based in Leighton Buzzard and Ampthill, with a drive for innovation and a passion for law.

The firm is seeking a proactive and professional individual to join the Reception Team.

​

The Role:

​

As part of our Reception Team, you will be the first point of contact for clients and visitors to our office. This is a job-share role and you will be expected to provide holiday cover for other members of the Reception Team.

​

Experience & Responsibilities:

​

· Previous experience as a Receptionist or a customer service role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.

· Answering and transferring incoming calls.

· Greeting clients and visitors. Dealing with queries that may arise.

· Administrative duties such as photocopying and scanning.

· File opening

· Meeting Room Diary Management

· Management of the Deeds and Wills Databases.

· Opening and checking incoming post; franking outgoing post.

· Maintaining the staff and visitors attendance records.

· Dealing with website queries.

· Ordering stationery and office supplies.

· Ensuring the Reception, Waiting Area and Meeting Room are tidy.

Skills & Attributes:

​

· Familiarity with legal terminology or experience in a law firm is advantageous.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills.

· Resourceful and proactive.

· Able to confidently liaise with clients, third parties and suppliers with utmost professionalism.

· Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

· Experienced at multi-tasking, dealing with confidential documents.

· Thrive in a busy environment.

· Team Player: Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment, communicating effectively with colleagues and supporting one another to achieve shared goals.

· Values: Take an ethical and sustainable approach in line with our firm values whenever possible to provide the best service to our clients, commitment to personal development and training, supporting our staff and giving back to our local community.

Conveyancer

The firm is seeking a proactive individual to join the Property Team. Your role as a Conveyancer will contribute to the Property Team’s success and play a role in the growth and development of the firm.

The Role:

​

As a Conveyancer at our firm, you will manage a varied caseload, working closely with clients, estate agents and solicitors to ensure the smooth progress of transactions.

The Team take pride in providing excellent service to all clients and regularly receive excellent online reviews. The team are genuinely friendly and every member of the team is valued.

​

Experience & Responsibilities:

​

· Legal Advice: Receiving instructions from clients and providing clear, accurate advice.

· Drafting legal documents.

· Supporting the firm’s marketing initiatives and helping to generate new business. Develop and maintain referrer relationships.

 

Skills & Attributes:

​

· Conveyancing Qualification: Formal qualification is not a deal-breaker but you must have some experience in dealing with a broad spectrum of case types, such as freehold, leasehold, new build, etc. Training will be provided.

· Sound Legal Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of property law matters.

· Client-Focused Approach: Display a commitment to delivering exceptional client service, with a focus on meeting clients' needs and exceeding their expectations.

· Team Player: Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment, communicating effectively with colleagues and supporting one another to achieve shared goals.

Trainee Solicitor

The Trainee Solicitor recruitment cycle opens twice yearly.  We have an intake in January and June.  Applications for January close at the end of October.  And applications for June close at the end of April.  

​

Our Trainee Solicitors work in our busy Leighton Buzzard office, alongside our team of dedicated and talented professionals. Our training contract is completed over two years, with four, six-month seats, developing skills and experience in drafting, legal research, interviewing clients and negotiating.

​

Key requirements:

​

  • You will have completed the Legal Practice Course

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Able to work quickly and accurately

  • Committed to meeting deadlines

  • High levels of initiative and motivation
